Jill Stein, the 2012 Green Party presidential nominee who is again seeking the Green Party presidential nomination, recently attended meetings in Paris and Moscow. On December 10 she sat at the same banquet table as Vladimir Putin, and she met other Russian political leaders the following day. See Stein’s web page here. Thanks to Jacqui Devenaux for the news.
Jill’s gotten quite a bit of attention internationally. She seems to be the presidential candidate much of the rest of the world wants to see elected here in the US, and for good reason given all the shenanigans of the last sixty years of Dem/Repub foreign policy.
@Joshua H.: Well, if that “much of the rest of the world” includes Putin, I’m not convinced that Putin has the interests of the United States or those of other countries at heart. One of the things many people don’t like about the last 60 years of Dem/Repub foreign policy is the invading of other countries, but that’s also part of Putin’s foreign policy.
Gee, sat at the same banquet table as Putin. That seems like stretching to me. Sounds more like a wedding crasher that a serious political tour.
So, Jill Stein did not meet with the Russian Greens or any other Russian Left opposition people? It was all lap dogging for Putin and the Russian establishment?
Sitting with Putin was not a smart move for the Greens.
Getting exposure for a party with little money….little national support and too many members focused on complaining versus doing….yes meeting with one of the most powerful people on the planet is good exposure for the Party.
