The South Dakota independent presidential petition deadline for 2016 is August 4, not April 26. The September 1, 2015 Ballot Access News print edition erroneously said that deadline had been moved to April.

Some years earlier, the independent presidential petition deadline had been moved out of section 12-7-1 and into a separate section, 12-7-7. The January 1, 2016 print edition of Ballot Access News will have a presidential petitioning chart showing the August 4 deadline.
