I suspect that if Gary Johnson does indeed decide to run again for the Libertarian nomination, he’d easily get it instead of McAfee. McAfee’s probably just fishing for publicity given how he’s suddenly switched direction.
Gary Johnson and Jill Stein have been among the leaders in the fight to open the debates to relatively strong third party and Independent candidates (ie, ballot access in sufficient number of states to have a chance of winning) in the last couple of years. They’ll have better name recognition this time around and, given the insanity of the Dem and Repub parties in this election (Bernie Sanders being a slight exception), will stand to get more votes.
