Florida Bill for a Redistricting Commission

Florida State Senator Arthenia Joyner has introduced a proposed constitutional amendment to be considered by the 2016 session of the legislature. It would create a nonpartisan redistricting commission. The existing system, in which the legislature draws the districts but is required not to let partisan considerations sway the plans, hasn’t worked very well. See this story.

  1. The part of SJR 1254 that allows the majority and minority leaders to cull from the list of voters who apply to do this “nonpartisan” redistricting will reflect the only concerns such leaders have: partisanship. Multi-partisans and alternative partisans probably facing the ax first, right after losing candidates for office are scratched.

Still, the voters do a little better than now with this plan.

  2. The armies of statist math morons have not heard about getting REAL Democracy via P.R.

NONSTOP MINORITY RULE GERRYMANDERS IN THE U.S.A.SINCE 1776.

Party Seats = Party Votes x Total Seats / Total Votes

EXACT – MOVE VOTES FROM LOSERS TO WINNERS VIA PRE-ELECTION RANK ORDER LISTS.
