Vermont Won’t Hold a Primary for Liberty Union Party

Liberty Union Party polled over 5% of the vote in November 2014 for two Vermont statewide offices, Treasurer and Secretary of State. However, under a new law passed in 2014, SB 86, that vote showing isn’t enough for it to qualify for its own primary. SB 86 (which didn’t take effect until after the 2014 election) says a party doesn’t qualify for a primary, even if it did get 5% of the vote for a statewide office in the last election, unless it also has town committees in any 30 towns.

Liberty Union has been unable to organize in that many towns, so it reverts to qualified minor party status. Its nominees will automatically be on the November ballot, but they will be nominated by state convention, not by primary. Also Liberty Union won’t have a presidential primary in 2016 either.

  1. Just as plurality elections cause polorization in the USA and countries suffering from civil wars, Ted Brown’s policies also generate division, conflict, self-destruction and hostility.

The 9th USA Parliament has been perfect in attracting team players.

The Libertarian chairs Ted Brown, Kevin Takenaga, Aaron Starr and Mark Hinkle have produced censorship, power-grabbing and hostile psychology towards the concept of proportional representation.

It took me 15 of the first 20 years of counting under this system to understand the difference between unity and division so I can’t expect you or anyone to understand in less than 15 years.

But the policies laid out by pluralists in all elections have snuffed out any chance of communication.

Even this web page is designed by its owner, the settings are there to stop and smother free speech liberties by prohibiting me to post and by prohibiting simple free speech liberties such as freedom to self-categorize as I wish and be treated as an equal, which cements plurality results and guaratees the self-destruction of the Libertarian Party.

  2. I think one impact of such a change is that I think it means LU candidates are free to file in other primaries (such as their occasional trips into Progressive Party primaries) to try and get labeled as “Liberty Union/Progressive” or whatever else is plausible.

Although it seems Progressive write-ins beat LU Progressive candidates almost every time LU candidates tried that. Biggest example of an LU candidate getting another line due to their qualification status is the one time that Diamondstone was “LU/Democratic” in 2000 during a US House race.
