This is yet another in a long series of incidents where candidates have stated that they believe election laws should permit multiple parties but have taken no real steps to develop smaller parties. He’s just saying it because it sounds cool.
Well, that’s better than not saying it at all. I don’t think President Obama, or any president since Ronald Reagan, ever said anything about ballot access laws. Ronald Reagan was good on that when he spoke in the Soviet Union and bragged that the U.S. gave voters more choices than just the Dems and Reps. He specifically mentioned the Libertarian Party and the Socialist Party.
