Ireland Parliamentary Election of February 26, 2016

On February 26, Ireland held an election for the lower house of its national legislature, using proportional representation. See the wikipedia page about that election. Ten parties appear to have won at least one seat, along with some independent candidates.

  1. It’s certainly an improvement from their 2011 result. It’s only a partial recovery from their 2007 result, where they won six seats and entered into government.

  2. The 9th USA Parliament has been using pure proportional representation (PR) for twenty consecutive years electing three Taoiseachs under votes of confidence since day one on August 6th 1995 and it works fine.

    Our International Parliament is seeking nominees for Economics Minister and the 9th USA Parliament call for nominees through March 31st.

    Practicing a perfect voting system always renders perfect results, pure proportional representation (PR) is the only perfect system and we’ve been the leading advocate to this new international premier unity phenomena longer than anyone.

  3. Indeed Peter. But it’s still a heck of a lot better than how we’re doing here in the US, largely because of how undemocratic our country is compared to Ireland and many other nations.
