The Tennessee petition deadline for independent presidential candidates is August 19 at noon. Nine petitions that may be valid were filed:
1. Darrell Castle
2. Rocky De La Fuente
3. Gary Johnson
4. Alysson Kennedy
5. David Limbaugh
6. Evan McMullin
7. Mike Smith
8. Emidio Soltysik
9. Jill Stein
The Secretary of State has already determined that Gary Johnson’s petition is valid. The office is checking the other petitions.
Jim Hedges did not file because at the last minute, two of his presidential elector candidates changed their mind. Two other presidential candidates filed petitions that were found not to have enough valid signatures: James Germalic and Kyle Kopitke.
Poor Jim Hedges. He should have been on the ballot!
Constitution Party?
My bad. I was thinking of another candidate.
Wow, I did not know that James Germalic was still running for office. He has run for a bunch of offices in the past in different states, but I had not heard anything about him since 2010.
A Google search finds that David Limbaugh is a history teacher from Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Limbaugh just happens to have the same name as Rush Limbaugh’s Conservative columnist brother.
I saw Limbaugh on a list of write-in candidates in Delaware.
Rough couple of weeks for Hedges & the Prohibitionists. Not on in NJ from technicalities, now this + maybe Louisiana if he doesn’t file (and always surprised they don’t make more of a push to get on in Utah). From a good shot at 6 or 7 states now to maybe 2 or 3
