Connecticut is Still Working on Validating Presidential Petitions but Won’t be Done Until Next Week

The Connecticut Secretary of State is working on tallying up valid signatures for various petitions for president and other office, but won’t finish until next week, although earlier it did determine that the Jill Stein presidential petition has enough valid signatures.

The Gary Johnson presidential petition (which actually has a stand-in presidential candidate, not Johnson himself) so far has 6,916 valid signatures, with many more reports from certain towns so far not processed. The requirement is 7,500. Connecticut law permits stand-ins.

  1. When I telephoned the Connecticut Secretary of State’s office today, I only asked about the Libertarian petition. I appreciated even getting the information I got, and didn’t want to try the patience of the overworked person I talked to.

  2. So, its extremely likely gary makes it on the ballot, right? I mean, only being 600 signatures away, one would guess that if they have to tally up a significant amount of reports.

Did the CT SoS office specified on what % of reports left were still to be tallied up?

  3. Are there any 3rd party or independent Presidential candidates on the ballot in Guam? They have no electoral votes, but they hold a Presidential “beauty contest” the same day as the territorial election, which is the same day as the federal election. What’s great is that because of the time difference the results are 12 hours sooner that any results from the mainland, AND they’ve always voted for the winner. In the past, the LP candidates have been listed there.
