Although the ballot-qualified Reform Party of New York is nominating Wendy Long for U.S. Senate (she is also the Republican nominee), it has no presidential nominee. Perhaps someone who knows why will comment. It had been expected it would nominate Donald Trump. Thanks to William Stevenson for this news.
UWSA favored two party system
Perhaps IPNY will merge and cross endorse 2018 Gov ticket of LPNY and each ballot line getting over 50k ballot access votes
That does seem odd, especially with Trump losing the Independence line to Johnson. And there is a national Reform Party nominee, isn’t there?
I believe Wendy Long is also the Conservative Party nominee, as well as the Republican candidate.
Any update on whether Ivanka Trump will appear on the ballot for Congress in NY-12?
As I understand it the NY Reform Party is affiliated with the national Reform Party but it was formed more recently and initially was not an affiliate. And like the Reform Party of Mississippi, it can do what it wants as far as nominating a presidential candidate rather than being bound by the national party nomination.
@William Saturn: she’s not on the official candidate list http://www.elections.ny.gov:8080/reports/rwservlet?cmdkey=Candidat_32
Core Edit
The “Stop Common Core Party” (renamed after the election to the Reform Party) is a single-issue ballot line conceived by Republican nominee Rob Astorino, designed specifically to take advantage of New York’s electoral fusion laws allowing candidates to combine their votes from multiple ballot lines.
Nominee Edit
Rob Astorino, Republican nominee[63]
Another interesting issue. NY is a Fusion State and the votes for a candidate are merged when a candidate is on multiply ballot lines. But in 2016 Presidential race, Trump is on the Republican and Conservative lines and Johnson is on the Independent and Libertarian lines. But they all filed separate Electors, so their votes will not be combined. It also caused an issue in California. Here the AIP filed first for Trump and the Republicans filed last, with different Electors. The ballot line shows “Rep/AIP” and shows 108 names. But only 55 Electors are chosen, and in California you select the Candidate not the Electors. By selecting Trump, the voter is over-voting and their ballot will not be counted.
Can they make a last minute nomination for president?
It’s too late.
The Trump electors in New York for the Conservative and Republican Parties are the same people. But you’re right, the Libertarian and Independence New York electors are different people.
What is this Reform Party ? Is this a new party .I thought the Independence party was founded by Ross Perot Supporter .I am lost here .
Exciting to watch Trump try to save himself one last time.
Can the Republican party somehow legally drop Donald Trump and Mike Pence and replace them with Gary Johnson and William Weld .The New York Republican party I meant .
Greetings Richard and All:
The NYS Reform Party did not select a candidate for President as a direct result of the National Candidate not speaking with the Interim Reform Committee in NYS. Once the appeal is resolved, the renegade group in Staten Island, will in my opinion lose their legal standard. This seems to be a repeat of when Frank MacKay from the Independence Party tried to take over the Reform Party and a judge ruled that the National Reform Party has a trademark over the name “Reform Party”. It appears that the Staten Island group does not believe they are affiliated with the National Reform Party which will require a name change if they are no longer affiliated with the owners of the name REFORM PARTY. I wish everyone running much luck and success. Running for office takes a great deal out of people and everyone running for office should be proud to be part of our election system in America.
