In the 2016 presidential election, 31 individuals are on the ballot in at least one state. This is the most in U.S. history. Of those thirty-one, thirteen are on the ballot in just one state.
The number of candidates in recent past presidential elections, who are on the ballot in at least one state, are:
2012 28
2008 24
2004 17
2000 16
1996 21
1992 23
1988 19
1984 16
1980 21
1976 15
There ought to be a prize if someone predicts the exact order of finish correctly.
Could there be a list of all the candidates on here.
Will there be large voter turnout this year or a low voter turnout rate like the 1968 or 1972 Presidential elections.Or the 1976 Elections. The 1984 Elections was a big joke.what a waste of time the Democratic party running a Presidential candidate that year.
Which state has the THIRTEEN Presidential candidates? The best CA can do is 5, plus a slot for “Write-Ins”!
@atheistically: Louisiana has 13 presidential candidates this year, but if I’m counting correctly, Colorado has 22 presidential candidates on the ballot. (See http://www.sos.state.co.us/pubs/elections/vote/generalCandidates.html.)
@WaunaKeegan11 check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2016 for a rundown, or see the compact table at http://www.thegreenpapers.com/G16/President-BallotAccessByState.phtml
It would be interesting to see a definitive list of presidential candidates on enough ballots to have a shot an an electoral majority.
How many candidates have gotten at least ONE percent of the popular votes ???
Likely 4 or 5 in Nov 2016 ???
