Maryland Bill to Let Independents Join a Party During Early Voting Period — 3 Comments

  1. What does the Maryland Legislature hope to accomplish with this measure ? (dare I ask) Everyone gets the same ballot in the General Election no matter what party they are in. As I see it it is far to easy to register into a particular party. Declaring party affiliation should be made a separate act from registering to vote.

  2. NO hack primaries, caucuses and conventions.

Ballot access ONLY via EQUAL nominating petitions — to get serious candidates.

    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

  3. Bob M., they are letting people join parties during the early voting period of the PRIMARIES. This would let independent voters choose a party and then vote in that primary. This would have let many independents this past year join the Dem party to vote for Sanders and possibly affect the results. The way I see it, if taxpayer money is used for primaries then all voters should be able to participate. If the parties themselves pay for it they can set their own rules.
