I’m sure this will go just as well as his presidential “campaign.”
I have heard that he’s got quite a few views that are not compatible with libertarianism. If so, the LP of California should not nominate him, but I suppose that with Top Two Primary, he or anyone else can declare themselves to be Libertarian Party candidates, and the party has no real mechanism to stop them.
If Transhumanism as Istvan espouses it is libertarian heresy, we need to understand how. Controversy is an opportunity to keep one thinking. If Zoltan has the the 2020 LP Presidential nomination on his agenda, then I say welcome. Maybe he will smoke out at least one prominent Austro-libertarian to make it an engaging competition. Regardless, ballot laws are always in flux and no one can say when the Deep State will only allow the two entrenched state-sponsored parties on the ballot. It is only a five to four decision away.
Out of all the “known” presidential candidates in 2016 (I use the term rather loosely), he did the worst. That said, I support the Transhumanist ideas, and even if I don’t think he’s the best vessel to convey the ideas, and while I don’t exactly think that it’s exactly an issue someone can run on, as long as he talks about his views and doesn’t ignore them for promotion of the normal Libertarian policies, I think it’s a net-positive with him running.
I’m not sure this will go well or not, probably not since California is a top two system.

With California’s “top-two” primary, he probably won’t have much impact. But, this could be a signal that he intends to run for the LP Presidential nomination in 2020.
Hi, To answer some comments here, I’m running for CA Governor 2018 under the Libertarian Party and seeking the endorsement of the party. I’ve been in close touch with both the state and national party prior to my decision to run. I’m also a member of both the state and national Libertarian Party, and a registered voter of the Libertarian Party.
I understand some of my ideas in the past to some people seemed incompatible with libertarianism, however my Newsweek piece makes it clear that I was representing a historic science platform during my 2016 presidential campaign, and I was not always representing my personal beliefs–but rather the movement as a whole.
This is a different campaign. I’m running as a Libertarian. And I will represent my libertarian values. Thanks for considering to support me. Zoltan Istvan

Zoltan, I agree with your concerns. I most certainly don’t agree with your political thought process that believes libertarianism is the best way to address climate change, robotization of jobs and other issues.
