In case anyone wonders why so many state legislators run for the NYC City Council, it’s that they can make $148,500 instead of $79,500 and do not have to spend any time in Albany. What’s not better about that?

Yeah, no one wants to spend time in Albany if they can help it, politicians and non-politicians alike.
Abolish the USA gerrymander Senate.
Split larger States — ie N NY and S NY for starters.
