Greg Orman was an independent candidate for U.S. Senate in 2014, and he got 42.5% of the vote. There was no Democrat in that race. According to this story, he plans to run as an independent for Governor of Kansas in 2018.

My recollection is that the Dem candidate dropped out specifically to assist independent Orman because Orman was in position to knock out the Rep candidate.
Would love to see Orman run and win the gubernatorial election in KS.
In California a Libertarian for Governor and Independent for LT Governor, two of an elected team of eleven as the United Coalition, are working collaboratively and not unilaterally under pure proportional representation.

NONPARTISAN APPV FOR ALL EXECUTIVE/JUDICIAL OFFICES.
I’d love to see Orman win the Governorship in KS – That would really rock the boat in surrounding Midwest.
The Democrat withdrew under a provision of the law that was intended for candidates with a severely disabling condition. The Democratic were unable to name a replacement due to Claire McCaskill twisting their arms behind their backs.
Subsequently, the legislature passed a law requiring a note from your doctot if you withdraw.
@Jim Riley – What did Claire McCaskill have to do with the Gubernatorial race in Kansas? I’ve not heard this part of the story before.
@Karl T.Knight
It was in the 2014 senatorial race.
