Joel Searby, for the Centrist Project, has this article about the 2018 independent candidates who have announced so far. Searby was campaign manager for Evan McMullin, independent presidential candidate in November 2016 who got 731,733 votes. Thanks to IVN for the link.
Searby is trying to conflate “centrist” with “independent”. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Independent candidates have political philosophies from all quadrants of the Nolan chart, and many of them are not near the center point. IMO, the CP is attempting to co-opt the “Independent” label because it is more acceptable to voters than labels like Libertarian, Green, and all the rest.
MORE or LESS control freak STATISM — for 6,000 plus years.
centrist/independent = NON-sense.

Don Wills… I’ll be taking the word Centrist back from them soon, that’s all I say right now. Got a few more months of planning.
It has been impressive the quality of the candidates that they’ve been able to gather. Some of those candidates could really be contenders.
More power to CP.
I would suggest just calling the group the “Non Bat S*** Crazy” Party that Pragmatically Wants to Solve Problems”.
Seems to me the word “moderate” makes more sense than “centrist” for the purposes of what they are trying to achieve.
How many 1917-1991 commies and 1933-1945 nazis claimed to be moderates doing great stuff in their regimes of death and destruction ???
I dunno, Demo Rep. How many?
ALL of them ???
Mein Kampf didn’t seem very moderate to me. Nor did Das Capital.
@CO In DR’s defense, those works may have seemed “moderate” to the people in those countries at that time.
HOW OFTEN in world history ??? —
Today’s ***moderate*** = Tomorrow’s MASS KILLER TYRANT.
