California Has Nine U.S. House Districts in which No Republican Filed to be on Primary Ballot

California has 53 U.S. House districts. This year, in nine of them, no Republican filed to be on the June 5 primary ballot.

In 2016, in November, there were nine U.S. House districts in California with no Republican on the ballot. For November 2018, it is not now possible to know how many districts will have no Republican on the ballot. On the one hand, there might be Republicans who file as write-ins in the June primary. Because there is only one person on the primary ballot in the 13th, 19th, and 32nd districts, it is possible a Republican write-in will place second in any of those districts and thus appear on the November ballot.

On the other hand, even in races in which a Republican is on the primary ballot, there are probably a few districts in which no Republican in those districts will place first or second. There are always U.S. House districts in California with two Democrats who place first and second, even though a Republican is running.

Concerening the qualified minor parties in U.S. House races, there are nine Greens, five Libertarians, two members of the American Independent Party, and one member of the Peace & Freedom Party. Independents are running in 19 of the 53 districts.

  1. 1/2 or less votes x 1/2 rigged districts = 1/4 or less CONTROL
    — since 1964 SCOTUS gerrymander cases.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrymandering

    Much worse before 1964.

Much, much worse primary math which nominates the extremists who later get elected in the rigged districts.

Due to many D/R voters NOT voting if there are 2R/2D in Nov respectively, the minority rule to elect 27 of the 53 USA Reps may be under 25 percent.

Same for CA Assembly [CA State Reps].

  2. What are the libertarians, greens and constitutionalists waiting for in those three districts? One of the first ways to stop being a third party is actually being a second party at the local level!

  3. Many USA Reps in ghetto districts will be elected with much below average votes —

due to the many illegal *immigrants* in such districts – aka INVADERS (armed and un-armed) —

who magically got counted in the 2010 gerrymander Census.

How many gerrymander districts may/will have NO Donkeys in Nov ???

    — due to too many Donkeys in the divide- and- conquer primary.

  4. The deadline for the write-in declaration of candidacy is not until May 22. Probably there will be write-in declarations of candidacy filed by members of the minor parties.

  5. In 2016, there was a Republican on the ballot in CA-13 against Barbara Lee. She received 8% of the vote in the primary, and 9% in the general election.

  6. Many of the independent candidates are running as Independents, stressing this on the their websites. Another set have recently changed their registration from Democratic, apparently dismayed over the treatment of Bernie Sanders by the party bosses. This also seems to be a characteristic of many of the Green candidates.

I candidate claims to be the candidate of the American Solidarity Party and another of the K9 Party (he might even be the founder, his/the party website explains how to change your registration). Another claims to be running as an Independent Socialist. Another appear to accidentally become an American Independent before becoming an independent.

  7. More or less control freak STATISM with ANY no-name *independent* ???

    NO primaries.

    PR and AppV.

  8. Jim, thanks for doing that research. Which independent candidate says he or she is really an American Solidarity Party candidate?

  9. Brian Carroll in District 22 is a member of the American Solidarity Party and is supported by the state and national committees. He filed as an independent because ASP is not recognized in California.

  10. Brian Carroll in CA-22 says he is really an American Solidarity candidate. His campaign website is on Facebook.

Robert Pendleton in CA-49 is the K9 party candidate. The party is attempting to qualify for the 2020 election).
