Democratic National Committee Eliminates Superdelegates’ Voting Power on First Ballot for President

On August 25, the Democratic National Committee changed some national party rules. Superdelegates will no longer be able to vote for president on the first ballot at national presidential conventions. See this story. This is a victory for the Bernie Sanders wing of the party. Because virtually all the superdelegates in 2016 were Hillary Clinton supporters, she enjoyed a big lead in the race for the nomination even before any presidential primaries or caucuses had been held.

The Democratic National Committee also passed rules requiring states that use caucuses to allow absentee voting in those caucuses.

  1. 1968-2018 = a mere 50 years of internal Donkey WARS

NO caucuses, primaries and conventions of the extremist control freak MONSTERS.

    PR and AppV

  2. I say it’s about time! They say the GOP is the elitist party but this super delegate thing is just crazy!

  3. The Democrats’ super delegate voting was not all a bad thing. It did in 2016 help the party avoid being taken over by an non-member (B. Sanders). If Republican Party had had super delegate voting, then maybe it would not have been taken over by a non-member (D.J. Trump). Parties should have some breaks if not control over those who associate themselves with a party.
