Next month, North Carolina voters are electing a State Supreme Court justice. There are two Republicans and one Democrat on the ballot. This story explains how that happened.   2. This example shows a random win by a 2nd largest party because of the split vote problem.

    The random win is welcomed because it brings unpredictability.

    In SF we always know which civic group will win 100% of the time because under ranked choice voting in single-winner districts only the largest party wins 100% of the time guaranteed.
