  1. In the more extreme Democratic counties, the dropoff can not be explained by Republican voters skipping the race.

    Thus some Democratic voters didn’t know who to vote for when both said D. The party bosses should do a better job of communicating who to vote for.

    3 of the 5 Hernandez counties were won by Cox. This implies that Hernandez was perceived as the more moderate candidate. While not decisive, it may have kept the race closer.
