Lance Lehmann, a registered member of the Libertarian Party, placed first on June 5 in the election for Rapid City, South Dakota Board of Aldermen, ward 4. No one got a majority, so he will be in a runoff on June 26. Thanks to Nate Watkins for this news. Rapid City is the second-largest city in South Dakota.
It might be premature to say he was “elected”. I found this news story, indicating he had 39.5% of the vote in a three way race, and that he will need to win a runoff on June 25. He is still 8 points, and more than 100 votes ahead (out of almost 1300 cast overall in this race) of his second place opponent (who bested the third place finisher by 29 votes), so I like his chances in the runoff.

looks like the election was nonpartisan.
Update: Runnoff election held today, and Lehmann won with 67% of the vote. Congratulations, Lance.
