Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party Files Brief in Defense of State Law that Allows Parties Sole Power over Presidential Primary Ballot

On December 31, the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party filed an amicus brief in De La Fuente v Simon. This is the case in which Rocky De La Fuente and someone who wants to vote for him challenge the decision of the Republican Party to list only President Donald Trump on the Republican presidential primary ballot.

  1. Minnesota should list all candidates on one ballot, and let the parties indicate whose votes they will count for party matters. Candidates who receive 5% of the vote would be placed on the general election ballot.
