The American Independent Party, which is only ballot-qualified in California, will hold its presidential convention on Saturday, August 15, at the home of the Sacramento County chair of the party. Some delegates will participate remotely.

I know Collins and De La Fuente are seeking the nomination. Is there a consensus on who the likely pick will be?
Their rarely updated website still touts Trump/Pence, I think they’ll nominate them again.
It’s probably going to be De La Fuente since he’s giving large sums of money to Mark Seidenberg.
Phil Collins would for sure get the best vote total out of any of the prospective nominees, if the AIP wants to restore any modicum of relevancy to itself they would pick him. I believe President Trump had already stated he would reject the AIP nomination if offered did he not?
I believe they will conominate the trump-covid19 ticket with the glop and dump pence just like the gop as well.
Curtis lemay big if true. I had not heard that. Trump will certainly change his chances of carrying California’s electoral vote based on this decision. I agree with you that unless they can bring your name sake back from the grave Phil Collins would be their best shot at bigger vote totals. If I was one of their members or supporters id change my name to covid19 so I could be on the VP spot for them. Phil Collins and covid 19…in the air tonight…..could be catchy!
Doesn’t really make sense to me to pic Trump again to me. Maybe if California has fusion I’d get it but might as well pick someone else
Why did it make sense the first time and what changes?
@Saturn,
Proof?
He’s said before it’s in fec reports . Have not tried to look it up myself but you can go on their site and search by individual donor, party, etc.

California allows fusion for president. It did so in 2016 (Trump was Republican and American Independent), 1940 (Wendell Willkie was Republican and Townsend), and 1928 (Herbert Hoover was Republican and Prohibition).
Actually was not aware California was a fusion state. Good to know. Maybe they do pick Trump again then? Wish they were picking sooner as I’m curious who will get their ballot line
Maybe they should nominate Kanye West, oh wait he isn’t running.
Do we know for sure whether he’s running? If so, how?
I am really bad at making predictions but just for fun I am going to do it: Donald Trump will win the AIPCA. I have checked the Twitter feed of Markham Robinson the chairman and he seems to be in complete support of Donald Trump. I am not sure about the “political research” Rocky De Fuente is getting but I highly doubt that given Rocky’s pro-immigration and pro-choice views are going to get much traction with the rest of the delegates. Again I am bad at prediction and anything is possible. Some of the people who were on opposite sides of the AIPCA dispute in 2008 are are supporting Donald Trump (Jim King, Brigadier General Charles Jones,etc.) My hope is that in after this election the AIPCA will either join the Life and Liberty Party or the CP again.
