On July 31, Jo Jorgensen, Libertarian presidential nominee, filed a ballot access case against Maine. Jorgensen v Dunlap, 1:20cv-272. The case is assigned to U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Torresen, an Obama appointee. Here is the 17-page complaint.
The case has a hearing Monday, August 3, at 11 a.m.

She is likely filing this case because they don’t think she has enough valid petition signatures to qualify for the ballot. I know they turned in more than the 4,000 required, but the election clerks there check every signature, and they don’t think they turned in enough padding to survive the validity check. If the LP fails in Maine, a lot of it will be their own fault. I urged them to start the petition in Maine in June, and I was ignored. They did not start until around July 7th or 8th, or maybe it was 12th or 13th, or something like that. They have to turn in signatures to all the cities and towns, and they are checked by the election clerks at that level, and then they have to be picked up and submitted to the Secretary of State. The deadline was August 1st. They started too late, and they also should have paid a higher rate than what they paid. They could have made it if they had followed my advice.
Maine doesn’t permit stand-ins for president, so it was impossible to start before the end of May. And after that, the party hoped that its earlier lawsuit, to be reinstated as a qualified party, would win.

The party finances were screwed, the national committee was too busy fighting over the convention, the state party was pinning its hopes on its last lawsuit, and the campaign was unprepared to win the nomination and in a reorganizing stage. Woulda coulda should. Now it’ll be up to another lawsuit.

Over the years I have written about gold mining and my gold mining friend with the high I.Q. there in CA. The one who got Acute Disseminating Encephalomylitis. ADEM. Any updates of Jorgensen’s status of getting on the Maine ballot? Someone on Reddit said that the 4400 number was a low ball estimate and they really don’t know the exact number of signatures submitted due to Maine’s unique, localized process. It would be great if someone could comment on this and say when Secretary Dunlap is sue to announce the decision.
