Various news stories say Kanye West is spending up to $500,000 of his own money to complete the Arizona independent presidential petition. It requires 37,769 signatures by September 4. He reportedly has 100 paid circulators and they are each receiving $8 per signature.
No Arizona independent presidential petition has succeeded since 2008, when Ralph Nader did it. Assuming West submits a very large number of signatures, Arizona election officials will be hard-pressed to check the petition in time for ballot-printing deadlines.
The only ballot-qualified parties in Arizona are Democratic, Republican, and Libertarian.
The $8 figure does not take into account the travel money many petitioners received to get there, nor does it take into account the coordinator overrides.
I wonder if he knows how much of his money has been blown on his toadying to Donnie. If he did, he’d be filing suit against his “organizers” already for wasting his money and committing such blatant fraud in his name. At least that’s the argument I’d be going with, since I don’t *want* to go to jail.
Who is Donnie?
Presumably the president of the United States.
Couldn’t”t be. THAT’S disrespectful!
I’ll give Kanye this much, He’s done more to actually get on ballots than Evan McMullen did four years ago.
Evan McMullin got on the ballot in 10 states. Kanye was failed on most of his petition drives. He may only end up on 10 ballots, or maybe less, and certainly not much more.
Kanye has a personal net worth of $1.3 billion (not counting his wife’s net worth, and she is worth about as much as he is). Evan McMullin was not personally wealthy. Evan McMullin, who was dubbed “EggcMuffin” by some, was a CIA spook and a water boy for mainstream Republicans. He was recruited to run by hardcore neo-conservative “Never Trump” Republicans like Bill Krystal, because they thought Trump would be too hard too control, as in they feared he was too much of a wild card. They hoped to siphon votes from Trump to swing the election to Hillary Clinton, even though she is a Democrat, because Hillary is more of an establishment insider than Trump, so they thought she’d be less of a wildcard, and easier to control. McMullin would not like have made the ballot anywhere without neo-cons like Bill Krystal funneling money to his campaign.
