Indiana Ballot Access Bill

Indiana Representative Ryan Dvorak (D-South Bend) has introduced HB 1130. It would decrease the number of signatures for an independent, or the nominee of an unqualified party, from 2% of the last Secretary of State vote, to 250 signatures. It also lowers the vote test from 2% of the vote for Secretary of State, to 2,500 votes. Dvorak is the Assistant Democratic Party leader in the House.

Indiana Ballot Access Bill — 4 Comments

  1. There’s a Democrat who actually lives up to his party name, a rare sight indeed once one gets to the state and especially federal level…

  2. There’s a Republican in one of the two houses that past couple sessions has introduced a bill to drop the standard to 0.5%. It’s not gone anywhere.

Republicans have supermajorities in both bodies so a Democrat entering a bill means nothing.
