Oklahoma Bill to Have Legislature Choose Presidential Electors Unless Congress Passes a Bill Forcing All States to Require Voter Photo ID

Oklahoma State Senator Nathan Dahm (R-Broken Arrow) has introduced SB 33. It says that the legislature should choose the state’s presidential electors. However, that provision would be suspended if Congress passes a federal requirement that all states must require photo ID for voters.

  1. One more stunt moron bill.

Lack of proof for many folks that they are USA Citizens –

    esp father chain since 1775-1776.

Birth records mostly do NOT show nation-state status/ALLEGIANCE of fathers.

HOW MANY ILLEGAL INVADERS WILL MAGICALLY BECOME USA CITIZENS IN THE BIDEN RED COMMIE REGIME ???

  2. Dahm introduces a lot of bills that don’t go anywhere. I expect many if not most other states are in a situation similar to Oklahoma in that legislative activity was heavily curtailed in 2020 and there is a great deal to do in 2021 which will make it more difficult to pass any new law that is not addressing what legislative leaders consider an immediate need.

  3. If they want the legislature to choose their electors, that’s fine. But, I don’t think Congress has the authority to require voter ID.

  4. What could be constitutional is if the state made popular vote for President conditioned on whether or not states with a majority of electoral votes had voter ID.

  5. Seems like grandstanding. The legislature would pick Republicans in Oklahoma and so does the popular vote. Even if it has a chance to pass it would change nothing.

  6. @ Rick:

What such a rule would do is de-legitimize national popular vote totals, especially if several states adopt such a rule.

  7. Interesting angle, hadn’t thought of that. It may be more interesting if the bill triggered legislative appointment if enough states passed npv to put it in effect or combined both ideas.
