Ever since 2003, Gallup Polls has been asking whether respondents favor a new major political party. The latest poll shows 62% say “Yes”, which is higher than ever before, although it was almost as high in September 2017. For the first time, a majority of self-identified Republicans favor the concept. See the details here. Thanks to Political Wire for the link. The poll was conducted January 21-February 2.
MORE/LESS CONTROL Party ???
Is it possible that a lot of people who belong to either of the major parties are in favor of the concept under the impression that it would “split” the opposition?
Only limited voting brings a three-party system.
Fortunately the inter-party 1Ogle Caucus has been bringing the correct math since April 1st 1995.

Trump is reportedly building his own social media platform to launch in May/June. That may ultimately be a key part of making a new political party. It will give Trump a direct line to millions of people without the worry of being booted or having a fact-check note attached. He, and the new party organizers, will be able to operate completely outside of Republican fundraising pathways.
Duverger’s Law may have something to say about this.
My proposal: have a modified two round system. First round, all the candidates will be ranked until the top 2 candidates reach the quota (which would be 33%+ if we use the single transferable vote system), with each party only nominating one candidate. Second round, head to head, voters must pick one, with the winner getting elected.
