Minnesota Senate Passes Amendment to Outlaw Use of Ranked Choice Voting by Cities and Other Local Governments

On April 27, the Minnesota Senate amended the State Government Omnibus bill, SF 1831/HF 1952, to add an amendment banning local governments from using ranked choice voting. Thanks to Fairvote Minnesota for this news.

The Minnesota Senate has a Republican majority. The Minnesota House has a Democratic majority. The bill will pass, but the House will appoint conference committee members who will try to delete the amendment.

  1. Every attempt at destroying the will of the people has come from Republicans. Some of the most freedom hating people i’ve ever encountered…. it’s absolutely disgusting. The Republicans lost me years ago, unfortunately for the Democrats, they’ve permanently lost me too, this year. The wokeism garbage makes them just as freedom hating as the Republicans. Will never vote for anybody from either party ever again.

    IMO, local communities ought to be able to use whatever voting system they want. It’s also the best way to see how these alternative voting systems work in practice.

  7. @Phillip Nope direct experience by seeing the idiocy on websites like Twitch (they literally regulate made up words like “Simp” because some hypersensitive asshats get offended), Twitter, and YouTube. Not to mention Republicans are just as much market socialist (corporatism is an authoritarian version of market socialism) as Democrats are now.
