I was surprised at the very low total for Nicholas Wildstar. Any explanations? I also thought Jeff Hewitt’s total was low but he did get over 50,000 votes.
Nickolas Wildstar got lost in the shuffle. A lot of people who would have voted for him voted for Larry Elder or Jeff Hewitt. Hewitt also lost lots of votes to Larry Elder.

A person doesn’t need to be a signed up member of a Marxist political organization to be a Marxist or Communist. No more that a person needs to register with the Democratic Party to be a democrat and vote Democrat. If you believe it and practice it, you are it.

During Sanders’ last campaign he proposed forcing corporations to put shares of their stock in a fund controlled by employees. That is, he wanted to use the force of government to give ownership of the means of production to the workers. That is definitional democratic socialism. His plans also would have effectively put the country on a path to nationalization of the healthcare and energy sectors, in part by expanding federal ownership and in part by regulating the private sector out of existence. That would not have been instantaneous, though.
