Tennessee Legislature Passes Duration of Residency Requirement for Congressional Candidates

On March 28, the Tennessee House passed SB2616, which requires congressional candidates to have lived in the state three years before running. This bill is clearly unconstitutional. Courts have been invalidating residency requirements for congressional candidates for a century. Thanks to PoliticalWire for the news. The vote in the House was 70-18. Now the bill goes to the Governor.

  1. What’s the next law to pass? You have to stand on your head for 10 minutes to qualify for the ballot!

  2. TN gerrymander oligarchs trying to overthrow the USA Const ???

FAILURE TO HAVE AN USA GRAND JURY INDICT THE HACKS ???

Another case for SCOTUS to blast southern CONLAW MORONS ???

  3. @Bigdaddyluvsu… to be fair that requirement (10 minute headstand) would probably mean congress would skew a lot younger. Not necessarily a bad thing.

  4. The House could refuse to seat candidates elected with the residency duration. Maybe Tennessee should secede if they want exceptions to the Constitution without an Amendment agreed to by 3/4ths of the states.

  5. TN Cong hacks – first to be restored in 1866 — 39th Cong —

    now obvious super-error ???
