The New Jersey Libertarian Party expects to run a nominee for U.S. House in each of the twelve districts this year. Assuming the party meets that goal, it will be the first time any third party has run a full slate for U.S. House in New Jersey since 1992. In 1992 the Libertarians also ran a full slate.
There are no statewide races in New Jersey this year.
And they’re all going to get 2%.
Hi Richard, 1992 was actually the last year the New Jersey Libertarian Party ran a full slate of congressional candidates.
Thank you, Tara Lynn. You are right. In 1996 the party nominated 13 candidates for the 13 districts, but four of them didn’t get on the ballot.
ICE Cars Forever, when a minor party appears on the ballot, that suggests to the voters in that state that the idea behind that minor party has adherents, and an open-minded person, especially a young person, might logically want to learn about the ideas espoused by the party. If the party doesn’t appear on the ballot, that process doesn’t happen.
Congratulations to the New Jersey Libertarian Party! And kudos to the candidates willingness to run for office. Good news for the voters there.
