On July 29, a Superior Court Judge struck down San Francisco’s law that authorizes certain adult non-citizens to vote in School Board elections. He acted only one day after the hearing. Good. If non-citizens can vote in government elections then it defeats the purpose of becoming a citizen.
I think the main purpose of becoming a citizen is to obtain a passport.
Richard Winger has gone on record many times supporting illegals. No wonder San Francisco is a disaster.
It’s interesting to note that prior to about 1830, there was no citizenship requirement for voting. The main issue was that you could vote if you owned property and paid taxes. With the gradual repeal of property qualifications in the 19th century, the citizenship requirement came into use.
