Newspaper Story About the Three Minor Parties Who are on Statewide Ballot in Pennsylvania

The Williamsport Sun-Gazette his this story about the Green, Libertarian, and Keystone Parties. All three are on the ballot for the statewide offices. The only statewide offices up this year in Pennsylvania are U.S. Senate, and Governor-Lieutenant Governor.

Polls this week are indicating Democrats are comfortably ahead in both statewide races. No one challenged any of the three minor party statewide petitions this year.

Pennsylvania law requires a party to have 15% of the statewide registration, in order to be truly ballot-qualified. No minor party has ever come close to meeting that standard, which has existed since 1986. However, if a minor party polls 2% of the winner’s vote for any statewide office, it is listed on voter registration forms, and is automatically on the ballot in special elections. Both the Libertarian Party and the Green Party have this status in Pennsylvania, because they met that vote test in 2020.

  1. Interesting on the Keystone Party. So, PA is another place where the Mises Caucus is choking the Libertarian chicken.

  2. The LP petition had high validity for the statewide candidates, plus they turned in over 13,000 signatures to meet the 5,000 signature requirement, so if anyone would have challenged them, the challengers would have lost.

  3. And the unDemocrats already took quite a bit of a backlash for trying (and epically failing, ha) to kick the North Carolina Greens off the ballot this year, so that might have also factored into why they didn’t try to kick the PA Greens or the Libertarians or Keystones off the ballot. Thus voters in PA have a decent amount of choice for statewide office.

  4. I can’t speak for the Greens, but I know that the validity was high on the Libertarian Party’s petition (at least for the statewide candidates), so there was no way they’d have lost a validity challenge.

  5. Of course Stock loves the Keystone Party because they are fake libertarians just like he was. John Waldenberger is one of the biggest retarded spazzes I’ve ever met.
