Coalition with a Purpose Party Becomes Ballot-Qualified in Florida

In August 2022, Florida recognized the “Coalition with a Purpose Party”. Parties in Florida become ballot-qualified by submitting a list of party officers and bylaws. The party does not seem to have a website, and anyone who has information about this party is urged to leave a comment.

UPDATE: thanks to Jim Riley for finding the party’s website. Here is the Party’s Constitution. It seems to offer no clue about what policy positions the party supports.

Coalition with a Purpose Party Becomes Ballot-Qualified in Florida — 16 Comments

  1. Richard, please define “ballot-qualified”, as the People’s Party was not allowed to have its candidates placed on the ballot in Florida this year because they were too new of a party.

  2. “Ballot-qualified” means the party has the same ease of running nominees in the general election as the Republican and Democratic Parties do. The stupid Florida law that kept the People’s Party nominee for county commissioner this year also hobbles the Republican and Democratic Parties as well. It is a law that hobbles all parties.

  3. Any law that segregates candidates from voters is ballot censorship and should be abolished else all the chatter about a democratic republic is bloviating.

  4. coalitionwithapurpose.com is the website.

They submitted about 10 versions of their bylaws to the SOS before they were finally accepted. That acceptance was conditioned on them having a working website. The application had the Spanish language spelling Coalicion Con Proposito.

There appears to be some connection to Puerto Rico and based on original charter some religious connection. “Purpose” may be used in the sense used by Rick Warren in a purpose driven life.

  5. I have a huge photo of President Trump at my house in front of my bed. Every night before I go to sleep I say a prayer to President Trump.

“Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord President Trump my soul to keep, Watch and guard me through the night, and wake me with the morning light.”

  6. If we are an opposition party in Florida let us take a position against the Democratic party for rigging regional elections and a position against the Floridian Republicans for exactly the the same tactics.
It’s the same corporate party doing exactly what’s expected of them.

  7. Richard, Looks as if your site is reaching a group of fringe almost lunatic type followers which is to be expected. That is a shame because of all the years and effort you have put into realistically and factually educating the public regarding our electoral processes through your Ballot Access News and other publications. I would suggest that since this is your web site and outreach that you insinuate some form of correction process, not necessarily outright censorship but to cull out the disinformation and “fake” postings by those fringe and deplorable contributors who have such serious problems with that reality and obvious factual actions and events. (ie: “rigging” comment by Davis Maisel as to Florida D’s who in fact lost to a super majority of R’s now in power in state and local races and a continuation of R Governors for three decades).I know you believe in freedom of speech and while permitting these entries, maybe a post script by you in large emphatic words to decry those postings as “NOT SUBSTANTIALLY DOCUMENTED” or “THIS ENTRY AN OPINION WITHOUT FACTUAL SUPPORT” or something to that effect.
Also, regarding Florida and its ballot access and some mistaken comments above. As someone with knowledge as you are well known, ballot access for candidates is granted to all but in the cycle of national elections, a candidate from a minor party is restricted in Florida law from ballot access if his/her listed party is “not AFFILIATED with an FEC recognized NATIONAL party.” That is what has happened during the past two national election cycles when the IND PARTY OF FLORIDA wished to place presidential candidates on the ballot for president. Florida as far as we know is the only state in the union which has this restriction which was exemplified by Rick Scott back when he was Floridas Governor in 2016 and for which we fought a four plus year legal battle with Florida’s executive administration. To combat that supported restriction by the major party duopoly, IND Florida is currently contacting other IND parties in other states to form an alliance that would be recognized by the FEC and prevent that type of future restrictions on those national candidates.

  8. Whatever. Trump won. Trump is God. Trump will win again. Suck it, losers. God is on the side of the winners in life, and that’s not u.
