On October 19, the Second Circuit issued an order upholding the New York state petition requirement that was passed in 2020, the increase from 15,000 signatures to 45,000 signatures. The decision is only a few sentences long and merely says the U.S. District Court did not commit any error when it upheld the law earlier this year. Libertarian Party of New York v New York State Board of Elections, 22-44. See it here. It won’t be reported. It is signed by Judges Jon O. Newman (a Carter appointee), John M. Walker (a Bush Sr. appointee), and Eunice C. Lee (a Biden appointee). Thanks to Candace Carpenter for the news.
Of course it’s a short decision, there’s no way to try to justify upholding that law without sounding like a biased tyrant.

The country’s largest online source of JFK assassination records is suing President Joe Biden and the National Archives to force the federal government to release all remaining documents related to the most mysterious murder of a U.S. president nearly 60 years ago.
The Mary Ferrell Foundation filed the federal lawsuit Wednesday one year after Biden issued a memo postponing the release of a final trove of 16,000 records assembled under the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, which Congress passed without opposition in response to Oliver Stone’s Oscar-nominated film “JFK.”
