Missouri Bill to Restore Presidential Primaries

Missouri Representative Eric Woods (D-Kansas City) has introduced HB 738, to restore presidential primaries in Missouri. Although Missouri held presidential primaries in 2020, the legislature that year passed a bill ending them in future elections.

Representative Woods has also introduced HB 739, to use ranked choice voting for all Missouri partisan elections, in both the primaries and the general election. Thanks to Ken Bush for this news.

  1. I wonder what the big-2 parties would do if a state used RCV (I’m assuming the IRV variety) for a presidential election? Has any other state used this for Presidential primaries yet, maybe Maine?

  2. ANTI-DEMOCRACY MINORITY RULE GERRYMANDERS IN ALL 50 STATES.

1/2 OR LESS VOTES X 1/2 RIGGED CRACKED/PACKED GERRYMANDER AREAS = 1/4 OR LESS CONTROL

    — ALWAYS WITH MONARCH GANG BOSSES — OFTEN TOP EXECS — PREZS / GUVS / MAYORS.

    SUPER-WORSE EXTREMIST PRIMARY MATH.
    —–
    NOOO PRIMARIES.

    EQUAL BALLOT ACCESS
    PR – PARTISAN LEGIS
    APPV – NONPARTISAN EXECS/JUDICS

    – BOTH PENDING CONDORCET = RCV/IRV DONE RIGHT.

  3. Brandon Lyon, Maine used it for the first time in the 2020 presidential election. The statewide vote and the congressional district vote all had 50+% so it was unused.

  4. The winning party’s method of selecting officeholders should be up to that party, and they should be able to substitute them out as often as they want for any reason or no reason. There is no reason for losing parties to select officeholders or “candidates”, the parties themselves and their precinct committeemen as their local representatives should be the subject of a yearly vote.

The vote should be held in the evening with only one vote per election, for the winning party. Only parties with a qualified precinct committeeman should be qualified to receive votes in a precinct. The vote should be conducted in person with the party committeemen of each party standing in a section or corner of the room and making speeches so voting men join their corner, and select others from among them to make additional speeches. After two hours the votes should be taken and tallied. We’ve discussed voting security, registration and qualifications in comment sections of other articles here, but can again if anyone wants to do so.

  5. Glad to hear more people endorsing the idea of caucus style general elections voting!!!

  6. Yeah, dummycrats are dumb. What else is new? We’ve discussed how to make the counting foolproof and unquestionable already.
