Utah Representative Jordan Teuscher (R-South Jordan) has introduced HB 393. It would allow parties to skip primaries for any office for which a party meeting had endorsed one particular candidate, and that candidate received at least 70% of the vote from the delegates. Here is the text.
I wonder if this will help Romney.
Will Evan McMuffin try again, this time as a communist (Democrat)?
one more ANTI-DEMOCRACY monarch/oligarch machination – to reduce number of persons controlling nominations –
throwback to before 1890 primaries.
Commies should be dropped from helicopters!!
Everone will focus on major stuff like Governor or Senator, but imagine local government where the Convention had 8 people present.
Indeed, government power should be devolved to the precinct level with law enforcement officers who would serve as judge, jury and executioner and be appointed by the winning party. Aside from that you may need a President to be CEO of the military, or that office could be chosen by the military itself through rising up through the ranks. There’s not much need for other government offices unless a winning party in some years wants them for ceremonial reasons.
There’s also no need for losing parties to pick would be officeholders. They can if they want, but either way how they pick them should be up to the party.
