American Solidarity Party Sets In-Person National Convention

The American Solidarity Party will hold an in-person national convention in Plano, Texas, June 30-July 2. Five individuals are seeking the party’s presidential nomination: Jacqueline Abernathy, Erskine Levi Jr., Mark Powell, Peter Sonski, and Mike Vick. They will have been chosen in an on-line party-administered presidential primary just prior to the convention, and the winners will address the convention.

In 2020 the party polled 39,230 votes for its presidential nominee, Brian Carroll. In 2016, its first presidential race, it polled 6,474 for Michael Maturen.

American Solidarity Party Sets In-Person National Convention — 18 Comments

  1. Sorry to say this, I don’t think he’s been that good from the get-go. I think what we’ve had here is a little social concern in
the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback
do well. There is a little hope invested in Vick, and he got a
lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn’t deserve. The defense carried this team.

  2. To clarify, the presidential vote is not happening at the in person convention. The presidential nomination is decided by an online Ranked Choice vote of all party members, about a month before the convention.

I am endorsing Peter Sonsky, who is a member of a school board in Connecticut. But Michael Vick is not the football player.

  3. The American Solidarity Party are the party with the most growth potential of all the not national parties (pretty much all 3rd parties except the Greens, Libertarians, and Constitution Party, although the CP being a national-level 3rd party is a little shaky at present). They get a ton of write-in votes which shows there’s grassroots support for them in places where they don’t h ave ballot access.By my count in 2020, they were credited 13000 write-in votes from 17 states, more than triple the number of write-in votes of the next person. They also have their own niche in what right now is a lightly served area.

  4. Walter, pretty much, to be a presidential candidate, you just have to be a member of our Party and meet the constitutional requirements to be president (age 35, etc.).

  5. Jacqueline Abernathy ran a write-in campaign in Texas for Governor. I think she will do well in this race.

  6. I agree that the Solidarity Party has a lot of potential. It’s platform doesn’t fit into the left-right spectrum, and creates a genuine alternative for votes who don’t get the left-right thing.

I also think that there is a room in the US for a genuine classical liberal party, like the Free Democrats of Germany.

  8. I don’t much fit the platform of the American Solidarity Party, but I do have a respect for Brian Carroll’s campaign. Hopefully the party can get okay ballot access (both on ballot and write-in), because as Ryan said above, provided they get their message out, it could work with some people.

  9. So there are seven confirmed candidates seeking the nomination – the other two not listed above are Joe Schriner (who has ran for president as an independent multiple times) and Larry Johnson.

I only bring this up because all seven candidates have short interviews on the ASP’s YouTube page, so if anyone is interested in learning more about the candidates, that’s an easy way to do so.

  10. Intelligent comments removed and garbage left up. Why am I not surprised or even disappointed at this point????
