On May 12, some Ohio voters filed a lawsuit in the State Supreme Court to stop the state from holding a vote on August 8, 2023, on a proposed constitutional amendment that would raise the support from a majority, to 60% of the vote. State ex rel One Person One Vote v LaRose, 2023-0630.
The lawsuit points out that the Ohio election code does not permit statewide ballot measures to be held in August elections. Although the Ohio legislature recently passed a resolution for the new constitutional language, it did not pass the companion bill to allow statewide ballot measures on an August ballot. Resolutions cannot change the statutes and need not be signed by the Governor. Here is the Complaint.
The legislative majority clearly wanted to hold the vote on whether to raise the vote to 60% in August, because it wants to stop an initiative that is being circulated now (concerning abortion) and which will probably qualify to be on the November 2023 ballot.
One person one vote is a bad idea. The principle should be one acre one vote, based on property ownership. However there need to be some other criteria such as White male church going Christians, gun owners, military or veterans, over age 40, natural born citizens with a grandfather clause, literacy test, and so on. Any amendments and court decisions that say otherwise need to be thrown out.

It should not be completely martial law, but with a strong emphasis on civilian military training/reserve and civilian auxiliary law enforcement and military reserve. Not only this, Richard, but you said in May’s print that the August 202[3] (typo?) vote would be “at a time when no other elections would be held in the state”. Even if there are other elections this August, the lawsuit points out that the August 2022 primaries had just 8% turnout.

All of this state by state wrangling would be unnecessary if all parts of the Comstock Act were vigorously enforced. Hopefully the Trump administration will start doing so in January 2025.

Churches are capable of providing a list of their members in good standing. A national council of churches can determine which churches are legitimate and qualify for membership. If not, a direct eclesiocracy with a national church, while beset with its own set of problems, is less bad than erring in the opposite direction, such as what we are living through currently with increasingly disastrous remarks.
