Washington State Bill for Automatic Voter Registration Signed

On May 15, Washington Governor Jay Inslee signed SB 5112. It provides that people who obtain an enhanced drivers license or enhanced state ID will automatically become registered to vote. “Enhanced” means that the applicant provided proof of citizenship.

Individuals will be notified that they are not registered to vote, and give them an opportunity to decline being a registered voter. Thanks to Darryl Perry for this news.

  1. Notice how they make it easier and easier for people to vote, but harder and harder for candidates to run (especially of they are not from the political establishment), leaving voters with fewer and fewer consequential choices.

  2. It would be better to call it semi automatic. Unlike most states, Washington does not check citizenship for its driver’s license.

California and Oregon do and they have fully automatic voter registration.

Washington does offer enhanced drivers licenses which can be useful for frequent visitors to Canada. I would be surprised if many holders of enhanced licenses are not already registered.

  3. MORE / MORE YOUNG AND STUPID COMMIE VOTES –

THEN COMMIES EAT EACH OTHER – SEE OLDE USSR / E. EUROPE COMMIE SLAVE STATES ROT IN 1980S

    P-A-T

  4. Communist cannibalism was usually metaphorical, not literal. There may have been some exceptions, given the frequent propensity of communist regimes to cause mass starvation. But even under the great evil of communist regimes, that was still the exception rather than the rule. I lived under one communist regime in the 1980s and visited several others, and never personally witnessed a case of cannibalism or heard any credible reports of cannibalism (outside of a handful of cases of notorious criminals) in that decade.

  5. Was Maxzim around for earlier commie rot events –

1921 USSR famine, early 1930s famine in Ukraine [kill of farmer kulaks], late 1950s Mao China famine. ????

  6. No, I’m not that old. I was an infant in the late 1950s, and not anywhere near China. 1921 was well before my time. I started traveling in the 1970s for military service, first crossed international lines in late 1979 for service in Afghanistan, and started to travel as a civilian in the 1980s for diplomatic attache, doctoral student, and eventually business purposes.

  7. How much has A”Trump=Hitler”Z traveled? Any military service abroad? Personal experience with communist rule? Ever even been to a communist country?

  8. A”Trump=Hitler”Z is probably old enough to remember the early 1930s, if not 1921. But it probably wasn’t anywhere near the USSR.

  9. Pat, wow! I wonder if that’s true. That would be very sad if it is.
