Anything as big as Canada or the US is inherently unstable, particularly given continuous population replacement, alienation of people from each other and from blood and soil, multiculti tower of Babel, national government involved in far more than only national military defense, and local government in far more than only prevention and punishment of crime.
I’ll say the same for Russia, unfortunately. At least our government is getting back to Orthodoxy, but otherwise we have the same systemic problems, and no recent tradition of limited government in any sense. In that sense the Anglosphere is marginally better. But both are far too alienated from traditional culture and natural ways.

Canada needs a Libertarian Party more than ever.
In a big city, it would make sense for a precinct to be compact. Until the social upheavals in the US roughly 60 years back, cities were really more like a bunch of urban villages of approximately that size, which differed from small towns mainly only in that they were right next to each other. Each neighborhood had local character and long time residents, and people were much less distrustful of each other.
Neighbors knew neighbors and people all over their neighborhood, including their own extended families. They knew many of these people their whole lives, and their families knew each other. A lot more has been lost socially since then than most people even begin to imagine. The problem is now much exacerbated with “smart” phones, plandemic, etc, but crime, rootless cosmopolitanism, and population replacement are the biggest chief culprits.
What Canada really needs is its own Donald Trump. The Freedom trucker convoys had all the same energy, but it needs to transform into an electoral force.

Bruce Evoy was also the co-founder (along with Vince Miller) of the Libertarian International over 40 years ago.
Federalism is the key to successful liberal (in the classical sense) government. Canada, Australia, the US, Germany, and Switzerland are better than other places because they have federal systems with divided sovereignty.
IMO, Switzerland works best of all, even tho it is a multi-lingual, multi-religious, multi-party country, because it has preserved its federal character better than others. They don’t even have a single executive in the usual sense. They have a seven-member executive council whose members take turns being the ceremonial President and Commander in Chief for just one year each.

Jim, if you mean Poilievre, anyone making that comparison understands neither Trump nor Poilievre. The latter is a career politician who supports open borders population replacement / White genocide, legal murder by abortion, and lgbterrorism through same sex “marriage.” He also wants to help start World War III by siding with the Ukrainian Nazi occupation regime, and supports Canadian government monopolization of medicine. Canada’s Trump? I don’t think so.

Walter Ziobro, the elements of Switzerland’s system you highlighted come closest to my proposals of any country I know in the world, which I’ve researched in coming up with them: one year terms, more localized government. I’d support a return of Muscovy to the boyar assembly if I didn’t live among people who would prefer to see Ioseb Dzhugashvili resurrected and back in the Moscow Kremlin.
