Americans Coming Together was a party organized only in West Virginia, 2022-to the present. The party’s leader had been S. Marshall Wilson, a former two-term West Virginia legislator. Wilson has joined the Constitution Party and will be its nominee for Governor in 2024. In 2022, as an ACT nominee, he polled 39.7% of the vote for Delegate, 27th district. That was the highest percentage obtained by any minor party nominee for West Virginia legislature since before World War II. Also, in 2020, Wilson was a write-in candidate for Governor, and he polled 1.93%. Thanks to Jeff Becker for this news.
The ACT still exists here, but it is now operating as a PAC.
ANY EFFORT BY GOP HACKS TO MERGE VA AND WV BACK TO 1776-1860 ???
I hope he and the other third party candidates do well in the 2024 gubernatorial election in West Virginia. We need political competition if we want to remain as one of the greatest nations in the world.
I’d say that this was a tempest in a teapot. But it’s not anywhere near that big.
James,
He already has two excellent campaign managers (one for each congressional district), and significant donors lining up. It’s going to be B-I-G !! PS: Marshall was a delegate in the 91st district in the eastern panhandle. The 27th (not sure where Richard got that from) is all the way across the state next to Huntington on the Ohio River.
It’ll be like the biggest thing since the 15th chia pet knockoff tried to stage a comeback.
Whales of the sea must unite!
Yes. And stop wind mills!
James: “We need political competition if we want to remain as one of the greatest nations in the world.”
Well said! We need the same vibrant competition in our political markets as we have in our economic markets.
There was also good news on that front here in California (and one that I played a small role in bringing about). The LPCA joined ProRep Coalition, a multi-party movement to bring Proportional Representation (aka ProRep) to the California legislature.

As Richard Winger already understands, ProRep is just as vital for a multi-party system as ballot access because winner-take-all elections are what leads to two-party systems. When there’s only a single seat up for grabs, only one candidate can win, and all of the challengers are better off preparing for the next election by uniting behind a single candidate/party (typically the one who finished second).
Commieling strikes again!
The reason I say that Richard Winger understand the need for ProRep is that he is a former board member for Californians for Electoral Reform (CfER), which promotes ProRep and Ranked Choice Voting (but predominantly ProRep).

Disclosure, I joined CfER’s board last year (they’re working on updating the website), and they told me that they are very glad to have a Libertarian back on the board again.
You all use prep? That’s good. It’s definitely helping to cut down on the HIV problem.
