On September 11, 2023, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called a Special Election to fill a vacant seat in the Minnesota House due to a member’s resignation. The date of the Special Election is Tuesday, December 5. The date of the primaries of the Democratic (Democratic-Farmer-Labor in Minnesota) and Republican primaries is November 16.
Yet, the Governor mandated the petitioning period for minor parties and Independent candidates to run from Wednesday, September 13 to Tuesday, September 19 at 5PM, with a requirement of 500 valid signatures of registered voters from within District 52B.
Minnesota’s harsh ballot access laws usually require such a petition drive to be completed within two weeks, but the Governor arbitrarily trimmed the petitioning period by half for this Special Election.
Also, given that this State House district is in the Minneapolis metropolitan area, petitioning will be much more difficult, as it will have to be conducted door-to-door, according to Cara Schulz of the Libertarian Party of Minnesota. Petitioning at public locations in this situation will cause a low validity rate due to a likely high percentage of out-of-district voters signing the petition because of widespread voter ignorance of the State House district of their residence.

Special elections should not have primaries. Candidates should qualify by supporters going to the courthouse. In this case 1/20 of 1% is 12 voters.

AZ believes in the retarded concept of replacement lists, whereby political candidates would have to rank their opponents, or not be allowed to run. I think he also wants voters to rank candidates. But he also wants proportional representation. So no telling how many hundreds or thousands of candidates other candidates and possibly voters would have to rank. From this insanely convoluted process would emerge a replacement list for each position so special elections would never occur. If this sounds psychotic, retarded or both, that’s only because it is.

Ex post facto means something that was not illegal at the time the person did it, not something a criminal later gets caught for doing.
For example: slave owners were not doing anything illegal at the time, so it was unconstitutional for the federal government to confiscate their property without compensation.

There was no insurrection, rebellion, or civil war. States left the union legally, regardless of what supreme court morons later decreed. The idea that the union created the states or was perpetual is nonsense if you look at how it was created, adoption of constitution, 9th and 10th amendments, arguments in the Declaration of Independence, debates over Texas joining the union, etc. A civil war would have been one where the South wanted to conquer the north, which never happened.

The Alabama legislator was accidentally drawn out of the district he intended to run in and had apparently been recruited for. So he rented a 5×5 area in a friend’s house. He used that address for his candidacy and for voting.
Before the Republican primary his opponent was barred from the ballot because of his past association with the Libertarian Party. This opponent then spread information about the non-residency issue. One newspaper columnist recalled getting an email, and thinking that there is always fudging on residence issues by politicians, and besides in the past he had been a sports reporter and covered high schoolers using false addresses so that they could play for a different school. In one case, the owners of a half-million residence claimed that they lived in a single-wide that had not been hooked up for water or electricity.
The Libertarian opponent unsuccessfully contested the general election, but then filed a civil suit. He managed to get a deposition where the legislator could not recall whether he had ever slept at his fake residence, and could not recall why his family had not moved their old residence where they received a tax benefit for an owner-occupied residence.
This was enough information to arrest him for voting fraud. As part of a plea deal he agreed to resign his seat, to serve a short jail sentence, and keep his medical license.
There was no civil war in the 1860s. Southern states occupied federal facilities much as American revolutionaries occupied British government facilities in America in the 1770s. The American revolution was not a civil war, and the Southern revolution wasn’t a civil war for the exact same reason.
People who fought against invaders and to protect their land and culture were not brainwashed. AZ can’t explain why he has such retroactive blood lust, even though it cost the federal government more financially, killed a lot of blacks as well as Whites, and could have easily been avoided with compensation.
