The story says the party has added 454 new members in September, so they now have 6,609, even after the Secretary of State subtracted about 800 members.

  1. The actions of this Secretary of State are evidence that individuals with partisan political connections should have no role in the conduct of public elections.

  2. Wearing a T-shirt does not make this clear that they are registering people to vote under the No Label Party banner. People could still think it is a petition.

  3. Are the canvassers handing out the “Maine Voter Registration Application” card, or something else? The card looks nothing like a petition.

  4. Ray, I don’t think most people have a clue about what they’re doing when they register to vote, sign a petition, change their registration, actually vote, etc.

  5. My thought is read before you sign no matter what anyone says it is your fault if you don’t read before you sign. Bellows is interfering with the rights of the people. A third party could stop another from winning. I am all for the more the merrier.

  6. Less flip answer: I’m a regular person in most ways. I happen to be a political nerd. There are other things my friends know more about than me. If someone tried to scam me on a vehicle sale, I’d be a lot more likely to not spot something that someone else who didn’t grow up riding the subway might consider obvious.
