Florida Voter Sues to Force More Names on Democratic Presidential Primary

On December 5, Michael Steinberg filed a federal lawsuit in Florida against the law that permits a party to dictate which names appear on its presidential primary ballot. Steinberg says he wants to vote for Congressman Dean Phillips, who is running for president in Democratic presidential primaries. In Florida the Democratic Party said it doesn’t want any names on its ballot except President Joe Biden, so the state won’t hold that primary.

Phillips is not a co-plaintiff. The case is Steinberg v Democratic Party of Florida and Byrd, n.d., 4:23cv-518. It is assigned to U.S. District Court Judge Allen C. Winsor, a Trump appointee.

  1. We just went over this. Let parties nominate however they want, as long as they administer and pay for it themselves, or better yet vote by party and let the winning party choose officeholders. You must have the memory of a gnat.

  2. TROLL MORONS HAVE MEMORY OF A ONE CELL CELL CRITTER AT THE N/S POLE.

CANDIDATE/MEMBER REPLACEMENT LISTS ==== NO MORE RIGGED SPECIAL ELECTIONS

  3. That’s a spectacularly dumb idea, but thanks for admitting you’re a troll moron once again.

  4. 17 TH AMDT SENATE REPLACEMENTS CHOSEN BY HACK GUVS —

WHY NOT REP REPLACEMENTS BY THE HACK REP ???

  5. Mr Steinberg will have to attend the party caucuses, if he cannot persuade that party leaders to hold a primary.

  6. Caucuses > primary, and in any case the party’s business and no one else’s.

  7. Governor camsidates don’t have to have long candidate replacement lists as a condition of running.

  8. ONLY LEGIS REPLACEMENT LISTS

EXECS – EXEC OFFICER LIST IN LAW — LEGIS BODY DEFAULT

JUDICS – SUPREME COURT FILL VACANCIES

    MAX SEP OF POWERS

  9. I don’t think Max supports your retarded idea. In fact I don’t think anyone does.

  10. @AZ,

They just copied the rules when senators were elected by legislatures. They didn’t want to have special sessions in far off Lansing, etc.

Congress should require special elections within 30 days of a vacancy for both representatives and senators.
