  1. At least Castro is a candidate himself (for the Republican presidential nomination). He has a better claim to standing than the lawsuits filed by non-candidates in many states.

  2. Does it, when apparently the sole purpose of running is to file such lawsuits? There’s scant evidence of any other kind of campaign activity by him or supporters , if indeed he even has any , from what I’ve gathered here; and aside from his notoriety stemming from this narrow issue, it’s highly unlikely I would have ever heard his name. I surmise I would hardly be atypical in this regard.

  3. It gives him more standing in about the same way as chasing after an ambulance makes one attorney better at representing the interests of the injured alleged victim than other attorneys who either didn’t pursue the emergency vehicle due to scruples, utilized their time in any number of alternative ways , or perhaps just weren’t close enough to the traffic accident to get to the emergency room ahead of the competition.
