Colorado Republican Party Faces a Tough Job if it Decides to Use Caucuses Instead of its Presidential Primary to Choose Delegates

The Colorado Republican Party has said it might hold caucuses to choose delegates to the 2024 Republican national convention, if former President Donald Trump is not on the primary ballot. However, there are difficulties for the party, which are explained in by Josh Putnam, a leading expert on the presidential delegate selection process. The national Republican Party rules required states to have submitted their plan for choosing delegates by October 1, 2023. The national Republican Party could waive this rule. But there are also logistical problems.
