  17. Hank, the “forensic audit” authorized by the Republican-majority legislature, was in the hands of consultants chosen by the legislature. Those consultants had worked in the past for Republican candidates. They took months and explored the voter registration records as well as the chain of custody for all ballots, as well as a recount.

    Just because you want to believe something is true, doesn’t mean it is true. It’s like believing in Santa Claus.

    Investigation after the fact is connecting dots on the tips of needles in haystack. Catching them in the act and proving it to a judge and jury’s satisfaction, even way harder.

    If you’ve ever spent much time around criminals, you know most of them are very very very very far from organized or sophisticated or smart. And yet, you might be shocked at how many orders of magnitude more crimes never get caught than do.

    The chain of custody, records etc aren’t nearly as definitive as you might think, regardless of who’s investigating it.
    Trying to investigate and prove crime after the fact, much less during commission, is a lot harder than you might think it is or than infotainment might lead you to believe.

    Now imagine how much harder it is to catch truly well organized criminals working hand in hand with corrupt government traitors and enemy foreign governments.

    This is why secret ballots and especially electronic and mail ballots are such a horrible idea, and recorded standing counts are needed.

  24. They work fine at conventions and caucuses. Why not for all elections? Of course that would be a lot of votes if done by candidate. Another reason why it should be by party. The winning party can then caucus separately afterwards and pick officeholders as it sees fit. Another reason this is better: vote for ideas or policy directions, not crap like who’s better looking or more charming or better at pretending they feel your pain.

  27. The British do a good job of counting ballots. In every House of Commons district, there is a central counting office and the public is welcome to attend and watch. Ballots are counted by hand. This is feasible because generally House of Commons member is the only office on the ballot, so it isn’t that much work to count them by hand.

    Anyone who lives in Arizona and doesn’t believe the vote count is honest ought to volunteer to be a polling place official. There is a small payment made to people who do that. More important, they are trained in advance of election day and the training is a good opportunity to learn about the safeguards in the process. I have been a polling place official most elections, starting with November 1964 when I was only 21 years old. That was the only time I experienced counting votes by hand. That was in Alameda County, and that was the last election in which votes were counted by hand. It was grueling.

Did some faulty programmed or hacked machine flip their vote? Did someone harvest their vote and cast it for them ? Etc, et c etc .     The two letter troll moron could have a few legitimate reasons for its absurd contention. For one thing, it may not know that some of us actually know each other in real life, and may have followed others of us here by invitation.

    To take just one example, Porcus Agricola is Pig Farmer’s nephew, as well as Latin for pig farmer. I happen to have met them, although I’m not either one, and know this for a fact. They are separate people. They are in fact both in the hog farm business, on separate but nearby to each other pig farms.

    For another , it probably doesn’t know that some of us participate in invitation only private chats of like minded people and other boards where terms and concepts it’s not used to seeing elsewhere are common.

    How many ineligible or duplicate voter registrations slip through cracks?

    How many people are pressure by others they live with or in their communities to give up their absentee votes or cast it as someone else dictates or gave it cast for them?
