Here’s the Latest on Democrats’ Concern About Third Party Presidential Challengers

Here’s a story today published by The Washington Post. It mentions the Libertarian Party, which has achieved presidential ballot access in all 50 states and DC in five of the last eight presidential elections, but none of the LP’s possible presidential candidates this year. The LP’s presidential ticket will be selected at its National Convention on Memorial Day weekend at the Washington Hilton Hotel in the District of Columbia.

Here’s the Latest on Democrats’ Concern About Third Party Presidential Challengers — 14 Comments

  1. AKA, the “Democratic” Party’s concern about democracy and the First Amendment giving people the right to participate in the process as something other than a Democrat or Republican. The unDemocratic Party misleadership are deeply authoritarian and as hostile towards free and fair elections as the GOP they claim to oppose, albeit with different targets.

  2. That’s because nobody cares if it’s not RFK, everybody else running is an obscure nobody even by the low standards of the LP.

  3. The LP’s enviable record of extensive ballot status has made it a takeover target for outside Presidential nominees ever since Ron Paul got the nomination in 1988.

  4. This might well be the third election in which votes for Libertarian Presidential candidates will have impacted the outcome in some of the swing states.

  5. HOW MANY D/R SPIES/AGENTS TRYING TO RIG THE FINAL LP PREZ/VP CANDS ???

ANY STATE/DC LP PARTIES N-O-T GOING TO ACCEPT SUCH PREZ/VP CANDS ???

  6. I have suspected for some time that there are agents from several sources, both internal and external to the US, operating covertly within the LP. At the very least, there must be IRS spies in the LP.

  7. I recall hearing a story about a radical political organization in the 1960’s that had a lot of activity and members, and then, it just disappeared. It turned out that various government agencies and groups, acting without knowledge of the others, had infiltrated the organization and inadvertently pumped up its membership. When they realized that the members were all government agents, they withdrew, and the group evaporated.

  8. “I never heard that before Walter. What organization was it?”

I don’t recall the name, but for some reason I think it might have bee a local SDS group somewhere.

  9. We don’t even like having second party candidates, much less third. Democracy is very important, and the most important thing about democracy is that Democrats always win.
